ADVENT 2022

THIS SHALL BE A SIGN FOR YOU

Isaiah 7:14
Luke 2:12

The Prophet Isaiah and the Gospel of Luke spoke of a Sign - An act of God speaking forth Hope, Peace, Love and Joy. That Sign is ultimately Jesus, the very incarnation of God’s hope, peace, love, and joy for his children and creation. With this Sign, God breaks in to save – to forgive and redeem - those who embrace the Sign. May this be US!

Hope, Peace, Love, Joy. Here is your sign!   “You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Place a sign in your yard so that neighbors and those passing by will get to share in this good news.  We will begin distributing signs starting Monday, November 28th. So look on your doorstep/porch, then place the sign where you’d like to share the news of the birth of a son - Immanuel. Advent Devotionals with daily scriptures and readings from our friends have been made available for this advent season. We wait and prepare our hearts to celebrate the joy on Christmas Morning.

Chancel Choir Cantata

Festival of Christmas - December 18th

Celebrating the joyful news of Christ’s birth, the Chancel Choir will perform Mary McDonald’s “Festival of Christmas” which features the exciting and inspiring music of the season. Incorporating more than a dozen well-known Christmas carols and five original songs, the story unfolds through music and narrative. We invite you to the Festival of Christmas on Sunday, December 18th at 8:30 and 11:00 am in the Sanctuary.

Christmas is a time of journeys.

Long ago a young couple journeyed from Nazareth to Bethlehem - To welcome a child who had journeyed from the riches of heaven into the poverty of a manger - On a mission to redeem the world. On December 18th, you are invited to make a journey with us here at First Methodist Church.

Enter using Bay Street
4:00 - 6:00 pm

From 4:00-6:00pm you are invited to drive through our parking lots pausing at scenes of the first Bethlehem journey - seeing and hearing the announcements of the prophets, God's words to Joseph and Mary, the busy Bethlehem Inn, the shepherds in the field, the angels, the wisemen, and of course, the little baby lying in a manger. Family groups will be setting these scenes; luminaries will light your path. You never have to leave your car! Just room down the window to remember and celebrate the Journey to Bethlehem.

Adopt an Angel

The time of year is fast approaching when we give to those who desperately need our help as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior. With your help, First Methodist will adopt 50 families from Project Christmas Cheer. If you would like to adopt a family stop by the church office or click below to complete an online form.
